Understanding fee activity

- Hey all - We are working through a number of projects and working to make the canton experience as easy as possible for end users. One of the challenges we are working through is just simply tracking + predicting how much CC will be in any account at any time and communicating that to the end user. Here is a sample set of transactions and questions, with a screenshot outside of our UI. Posting here at Wayne's request.
1 - Incoming transactions to the wallet are all whole. For example - If another party transfers 200cc, then this wallet receives 200c. Great! However, sometimes transactions are accompanied by Validator Rewards, and it's not entirely clear where those go without pulling down a lot more raw data which I'm trying to avoid. Anyone know?
2 - When there are incoming transfers, it appears that there is a .6cc debit that occurs on these accounts after receiving the cc transfer via automation. Why is this? Where does it go? Can we prepay it? It also appears like the -0.6cc debit did not apply to the initial transfer. It it always .6cc?
3 - When sending cc, you can see a outgoing transaction for 5,000cc, with 1.21cc in fees added to it. Since the UI has no place for quoting the transaction cost, what is the best way to predict this fee?We are building in a much more seamless experience on the front end so just understanding how to account for these transactions (and plan for them) for the end user is important for us. Thanks for any feedback you can offer.
The Brale team has done a lot on the stablecoin issuance side and now just moving to better understanding how to create a great user experience for those focused on canton coin as opposed to stablecoins. - Hi Ben - here are the answer your questions regarding fees:
- As long as the validator/app pools are not exhausted, hosting validator of the sender gets 20% of fees in 3. as validator activity rewards, and the sender gets 60% of that fee in app rewards.
- The wallet auto-merges the incoming with the existing holding. That operation incurs $0.03 fee for one new UTXO being created, as per the fees out lined in the whitepaper. At 20 CC/USD = 0.6CC.
- On this transfer 2 UTXO are created - one which is sent in the transfer and one that is change for the receiver. The fee is $0.03 per UTXO, so $0.06 in this case. There is also a transfer fee (of 1% on the first $100 + 0.1% on next $990, etc.). So in this case the total fee for 5,000 CC transfer is 1.21 USD ($0.06 for 2 UTXO coins + $1.00 on first $100 transferred + $0.15 on remaining $150 transferred) which at 20 CC/USD = 24.2 CC. Same can be seen in the screenshot - line 3 under the balance change.
If you want more details on these fees you can also look at the canton coin whitepaper (see pages 14 and 15): https://www.digitalasset.com/hubfs/Canton%20Network%20Files/Documents%20(whitepapers%2c%20etc...)/Canton%20Coin_%20A%20Canton-Network-native%20payment%20application.pdf?utm_source=gsf&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=Always-on+-+Native+payment+application+-+Paper
