AKASCAN Update - Featured App Status
We would like to share an update regarding AKASCAN and its status as a Featured App on the Canton network.
AKASCAN does not fully align with the current Featured App guidelines. Bringing AKASCAN into compliance would require introducing a mandatory fee structure, which conflicts with our intention to offer continuous security monitoring as a public good for the Canton ecosystem.
As a result, we have stopped generating Featured App activity markers for AKASCAN as of December 21st, 2025. From that point onward, rewards have ceased accumulating. All rewards earned up to that date will be paid out on schedule, early January.
We believe that continuous vulnerability scanning and security visibility for Canton-connected assets should be broadly accessible and not limited by individual pricing models. For that reason, AKASEC intends to pursue the same strategic direction for AKASCAN as organization ALUM Labs does for iCanMonitor: exploring operation under a Super Validator model, either directly by collaborating with ALUM Labs, in collaboration with an existing Super Validator, or potentially as a foundation-funded network service.
Until a clear path forward is determined, AKASCAN will remain online and operational. We will continue to fund and maintain the underlying infrastructure ourselves while we evaluate the available options and await further guidance.
We have requested direction from the Tokenomics Committee on how best to proceed, but have not yet received a response. We will keep you informed as soon as there are updates.
