Alpend has completed a major upgrade to its Canton-based money market. The release combines a new hosting setup, stronger controls over important protocol actions, audited code and the start of its next rewards phase. The upgraded protocol uses multiparty hosting from Canton Loop . BitSafe’s Decentralization Manager distributes control of sensitive administrative actions across independent Canton nodes, reducing the protocol’s reliance on any single operator. Alpend has also moved to a smart contract codebase audited by Halborn . The upgrade creates more room for deposits. Alpend had reached its supply limits in some markets, preventing additional funds from being added. Those limits have now been raised, although deposits still depend on the available capacity in each market. Existing users need to move their positions to the upgraded version. The migration is handled through the Alpend app in a single transaction using a Loop wallet. Funds move directly into the new protocol without requiring a separate withdrawal and deposit. Completing the migration starts a user’s Ascent 2 rewards. The new phase adds a 4% bonus APY for CC and an 8% bonus APY for USDCx on top of the underlying lending yield. These rewards begin once the migration is complete. Alpend has closed Ascent 1 and taken a snapshot of all CC incentives earned during the first phase. The protocol expects claims to open within a week of the September 3 upgrade. Alpend continues to use gated access as it expands the protocol. For existing users, the upgrade brings greater deposit capacity, new infrastructure and the next rewards phase into one migration.
