Canton Loop has opened a limited community test of its new transaction fee model. Canton Loop is a browser-based, self-custodial wallet built for Canton. It allows users to access their wallet without installing a browser extension. The wallet currently uses a flat transaction fee. Under the new model being tested , users pay the actual Canton network cost of each transaction instead. The fee is displayed before the transaction is signed, giving the user a chance to see the amount before confirming. Once approved, it is deducted from the wallet’s prepaid Fee Balance. Testing is taking place through the Canton Loop TestNet wallet and is open to a limited number of participants. Anyone applying must create a TestNet wallet and have their Party ID ready before completing the application form . The change means different transactions can be charged according to the network resources they use instead of applying one fixed fee to every transaction. The trial remains on TestNet while Canton Loop collects feedback from its community. The wallet plans to move the model to MainNet after testing, although no MainNet launch date has been announced.
