Exclude tags in search?

Is it possible to exclude certain tags or topics when searching?

I often find that I get a lot of hits of the security newsletter, and I’d like to filter those out from my search result.

I don’t believe there’s a way to exclude tags/sections BUT I did lower the search priority on the News section, let me know if that helped!

Have you tried it this way:
-tags:tag-to-be-excluded
