Wallet recovery
hello comunity
I’m a user.
I created a wallet on one of the Canton Network dapps.
This requires an email address and private key to access the wallet.
Because I don’t fully understand the Canton Network yet, I created a wallet with a temp email address.
I’ve backed up my private key.
Initially, I thought the private key was the key to everything, like most other blockchains like EVM/Solana, etc.
The problem arose when I lost my temp email address.
I didn’t restore my wallet to the dapp because I only had the private key.
I tried importing it to another wallet platform by importing my private key.
It successfully displayed the exact address.
But the balance was missing.
The question is, how can I use this wallet?
I’ve tried importing my private key to almost all wallets.
But I can’t use it.
Even my balances, such as CC, USDC, and CBTC, are not detected.
@mas_iko , the difference to EVM/Solana is the real privacy on Canton. Your new wallet does not have your private data - e.g. your holding UTXOs so it cannot display your balances.
Your best bet is to restore your wallet with a new email address and the exported key on the wallet provider (or app) where you originally had it. You can then transfer out the assets.
Otherwise you rely on old and new wallet to have the data export/import features that allow you to migrate.
I’ve contacted the wallet provider via email, but I haven’t received a response.
I did some further research and found this reference: Externally Signed Topology Transactions — Digital Asset’s platform documentation
Can this method be used?
