Logical Synchronizer Upgrade (LSU) Updates

DevNet completed a Logical Synchronizer Upgrade (LSU) on July 29th, which introduced CantonBFT as the ordering layer for DevNet.

Based on the results from DevNet, the Splice and Canton teams recommended a temporary delay in the adoption of CantonBFT on TestNet and MainNet. This delayed the corresponding LSUs on those networks.

This might cause some confusion as you look forward on the Operations Calendar (link).

Based on the standard release schedule, a new LSU would come up on DevNet September 22-23, to adopt any protocol-level changes completed in the prior month. However, none of these protocol-level changes are ready right now, so the September 22-23 LSU on DevNet has been cancelled.

Please note, however, that there’s still a pending LSU for adopting CantonBFT on TestNet and MainNet. If CantonBFT is ready in time, TestNet and MainNet will adopt Canton BFT via the next scheduled LSU dates on those networks: September 29-30 for TestNet, and October 9-10 on MainNet.
