Community Proposal: U.S. Custody, Native Yield & Retail Access for Canton Coin (CC)
Dear Canton Network community,
I would like to open a discussion about a practical path toward broader participation in Canton Coin (CC): dependable U.S. custody, transparent opportunities to earn through native network participation, and easier retail access.
My proposal is for the community to bring together wallet builders, custodians, node operators, application developers, and relevant ecosystem representatives to assess what is already available, identify the gaps, and develop a realistic roadmap.
1. U.S. custody and a clear route to holding CC
Explore partnerships with providers able to serve eligible U.S. users and support CC directly. The goal would be straightforward onboarding, reliable deposits and withdrawals, clear ownership and custody terms, and accessible support.
Users should be able to understand who controls their assets, what fees apply, what protections actually exist, and whether they can withdraw to a compatible self-custody wallet. Any provider’s licensing, insurance, or other protections should be described accurately and verified rather than assumed.
2. Explore native earning opportunities
Could the ecosystem make legitimate network participation and its associated rewards more accessible to smaller participants, where technically and legally feasible?
By “native yield,” I mean exploring rewards connected to actual network activity or useful services. I am asking whether an accessible model can be built; I am not assuming that simply holding CC generates yield or that CC uses a conventional proof-of-stake staking model.
Any proposed offering should clearly explain:
- What activity produces the rewards and who performs it.
- Where rewards come from and how they can change.
- Eligibility, fees, custody arrangements, and withdrawal restrictions.
- Operational, counterparty, and technical risks.
- Whether the model is sustainable beyond temporary incentives.
There should be no guaranteed return or advertised rate without a defensible basis. If passive holding cannot support a native earning model, the community should say so clearly and explore appropriate participation options instead.
3. Make retail access easier to understand and use
Explore a simpler experience for eligible individuals who want to acquire, hold, transfer, and use CC. Useful improvements could include compatible wallets, accessible purchase and withdrawal routes, clear fee information, and plain-language guidance for getting started.
A community-maintained directory could distinguish live services from planned integrations, show supported jurisdictions, and help people confirm that a wallet or provider supports the intended form of CC. Retail users should also have clear guidance on account recovery, security, and avoiding impersonation or fraudulent offers.
4. Start with discovery, then a limited pilot
I suggest a phased approach:
- Publish an inventory of existing custody, wallet, access, and participation options, including their limitations.
- Invite interested providers and builders to outline technical requirements, U.S. availability, and the work needed to close specific gaps.
- Develop a small pilot with clearly defined responsibilities, eligibility, costs, and risk disclosures.
- Share results with the community before proposing a wider rollout.
Success should be measured by practical outcomes: easier onboarding, dependable withdrawals, understandable fees, useful network participation, and fewer support issues—not just token price or an advertised yield.
Questions for the community
- Which parts of this proposal are already available today, particularly for U.S. users?
- Which providers or builders would be interested in participating?
- What technical or eligibility barriers would need to be addressed?
- Is there a viable way to make native participation rewards accessible to smaller users without misrepresenting how Canton works?
- Who would be the right contact or community group to help coordinate an initial discussion?
I am putting this forward as a community member seeking feedback and collaboration. This proposal does not announce a product, partnership, or promised return. My goal is to help turn these ideas into a transparent, practical discussion about wider access to the Canton ecosystem.
Thank you for your time. I welcome corrections, existing resources, and constructive suggestions from the community.
Respectfully,
Captain America Crypto
