ShadowDesk v2: rule-bound Canton Coin selling for node operators (looking for operator feedback)

Hi all, we built ShadowDesk for HackCanton Season 3. Since the season ended we’ve kept going and shipped an upgrade, and we’d love feedback from people who run validators or Canton apps.

What ShadowDesk does

Two people sign a mandate on the ledger: which trading desks are allowed, the most that can be sold per trade, the worst acceptable price, and an expiry. An agent then sells only inside those limits. Desks quote privately, so no desk sees another’s price. The best price wins by a fixed rule, and both sides settle in one transaction or not at all.

What’s new in this upgrade

  • A security fix in the contracts. Our first version let the agent skip the mandate. We found it, fixed it, and now test the bypass four ways. Every trade must now go through a mandate co-signed by a second approver.
  • Live on Canton DevNet. The fixed contracts are deployed, and two competitive trades settled on them. The transaction IDs are public in the repo.
  • A clear focus: node operators who earn Canton Coin but pay many of their costs in dollars.

What we’d like to learn from operators

  1. Do you convert part of your Canton Coin into dollars or stablecoins? Roughly how often?
  2. Who does it today: a person, a script, an exchange or an OTC desk?
  3. Who holds the keys, and is there any limit on how much can be sold, at what price, or to whom?
  4. Has a conversion ever gone wrong (sold too much, bad price, wrong counterparty, a key misused)?
  5. Would you automate it if a second approver set limits that the network itself enforced?

Replies here or by DM are both welcome, and 15 minutes on a call would help even more. We’re also looking for 1 to 3 operators to try it early, once selling CC for a dollar stablecoin is built.

Test tokens only so far; no real money moves. Thanks!
