A question for teams building and operating on Canton: How are you protecting the keys that secure the network itself and not just the assets moving through it?

Identity, signing, encryption, and other system-level keys can have a much broader impact than individual asset keys. Key management needs to account for where keys are stored, who or what can use them, and how every operation is controlled and audited.

At MPCH, we’re addressing this with Stronghold-KMS, purpose-built for infrastructure authority keys, including validator and network signing environments. Stronghold-KMS is built to scale from startups to the largest banks in the world requiring FIPS 3 Level 3 hardware, fully immutable audit logging and multiple site redundancy.

Critical keys shouldn’t have to rely on public-cloud infrastructure alone. Hardware Security Models (HMS’s), combined with offline protection for root keys stored cold within geographically diverse military grade facilities on two continents along with tightly controlled key operations can provide a stronger foundation for securing network-level trust.
