Dpm trace: inspect Canton transactions, feedback welcome
- marijamijailovicOP
Hey everyone
I’m Marija from Walnut. We built dpm tracea DPM component that shows what a Canton transaction did, right in your terminal.
The demo submits a command, reads a failed submission, and compares two transactions.Give it an update ID, and it prints the transaction as a tree: which choice was exercised, what got created and archived, who signed and who observed. If a submission failed, it shows you why. You can also preview a command without committing it, compare two transactions, or step through one interactively with
--visualize. It only shows what your parties are allowed to see, and nothing gets uploaded anywhere. To install it, add
dpm-traceto thecomponentslist in yourdaml.yamland rundpm install package:components: - damlc:<sdk-version> - daml-script:<sdk-version> - oci://ghcr.io/walnuthq/dpm-trace:0.1.4Or, if your project sets
sdk-versioninstead, use the install script:curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/walnuthq/dpm-trace/main/install.sh | shTo get started, follow the quickstart or try the examples.
We’re now in the adoption phase of our Development Fund grant (Milestone 4). If you try
dpm traceon your project, tell us whether it sped up your development, here in the thread or as a comment on #824. Bugs and feature requests can go to GitHub issues.Happy to answer any questions!
