Seeking Champion — LongView Crew Proposal (Community Yield Education Tool)
- Hi there,
My name is Scott Long, and I've submitted a development fund proposal for LongView Crew (LVC) — a community-facing Canton dApp focused on yield education, validator comparison, and network participation.
PR: https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/195
I'm reaching out because I'm an independent builder and need a champion from the Tech & Ops Committee to support the proposal. Here's a quick overview of what LVC does and why I think it matters for the Canton ecosystem.
What LVC is: LongView Crew is a community-facing Canton dApp that helps CC holders maximize their yield through personalized staking and delegation recommendations. It includes a Yield Maximizer that ranks opportunities based on user preferences (risk tolerance, time horizon, and balance size), a live validator comparison table pulling data from Canton Scan, 365-day portfolio simulations, and a community engagement layer with leaderboards and games. Today, LVC operates as a non-custodial educational tool — users review recommendations and execute all transactions in their own wallets. The architecture is designed, however, to support a fully automated experience with the right licensed partner: a user would deposit CC, select their preferences, and the optimizer would automatically manage and deploy their funds across the best staking and delegation options on their behalf. That execution layer requires a licensed custodial partner, and we're actively seeking one.
Where it stands: The project is already substantially built — about 1,100 files across a full-stack codebase (React 18 + Spring Boot 3.4 + Daml smart contracts). It integrates with Canton Scan API for live CC pricing and mining round data, reads real wallet balances via PQS, and has a freemium subscription model scaffolded with Stripe. This isn't a concept — it's a working application.
Why it matters: Canton has great institutional infrastructure, but there's no community-facing tool that helps everyday CC holders figure out where and how to stake. LVC fills that gap. It also serves as a full-stack reference implementation that other developers can learn from — covering wallet integration, Scan API, Daml contracts, PQS, and Docker deployment in one codebase.
The ask: 275,000 CC (~$39,875) over 6 months across 3 milestones — production deployment and open-sourcing, live validator API integration, and community growth. Full details are in the proposal file.
I'd love to connect with anyone on the Tech & Ops Committee who might be interested in championing this. Happy to do a walkthrough of the app or answer any questions.
Thanks for your time, Scott Long longsw1984@...
