[tech-ops] Canton Synchronizer New Record TPS
Hello everyone,
We wanted to share some very exciting news that marks a significant milestone for the Canton ecosystem. Over the past few months Proof Group has been working closely with a very large financial institution to prove groundbreaking scalability in Canton. We are proud to share that we have achieved ~100k TPS on Canton in a recent test environment for this fellow Super Validator’s specific use case. The test environment took place out of our bare metal facility in San Francisco and leveraged an open source Canton repo that Proof Group forked. Please find a summary of the results attached.
Throughout the test we demonstrated how adding participant nodes increased the scalability of the network. Based on our initial results, there is no reason to think that ~100k TPS is the limit. 1mn+ TPS is certainly possible and this does not even take into account batching optimizations and strategies.
We are excited to share our independent results with the Canton ecosystem and what it could mean for the future of finance & payments settling onchain. Some of the largest equities exchanges on wall street handle millions of messages per second with their existing matching engines so it’s very exciting to see Canton can handle this at scale.If anyone in the Canton ecosystem has any questions on our test results or is interested in replicating a similar test for your own flows, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
