CompliLedger × Canton — Feedback and Potential Champion
Hi everyone,
I recently submitted a Canton Development Fund proposal for CompliLedger. The proposal automatically closed because I don’t currently have a Champion, so I wanted to share what I’m building with the community, get your feedback, and see if anyone might be interested in learning more and potentially considering becoming a Champion.
The problem I’m trying to solve is simple: financial markets are becoming more digital, tokenized, programmable, and automated, and regulation is moving with them. But compliance and governance are still largely manual and point-in-time. Teams collect evidence, test controls, prepare reports, and get ready for audits—then conditions change and much of that work has to happen again.
CompliLedger is AI-native compliance and governance infrastructure designed to make that process continuous.
It can determine what requirements apply to a company, asset, transaction, or workflow; identify and collect the evidence needed from authorized systems; evaluate controls; make deterministic decisions; and generate machine-verifiable proof. When the underlying conditions change, CompliLedger can collect new evidence, reassess the controls, and update the assurance.
For Canton participants, that could mean continuous compliance instead of periodic checks, less manual evidence collection, current decisions instead of stale assessments, ongoing audit readiness, machine-verifiable proof, reusable proof, and authorized views for clients, auditors, regulators, and developers.
It could also allow compliance and governance to become part of the financial workflow itself. Before an issuance, transfer, settlement, or other important action occurs, an application could determine whether the required conditions are currently satisfied. As financial workflows become more automated, the same infrastructure could also govern AI-agent actions by checking authority, limits, rules, evidence, and required human approvals before execution.
Potential Canton use cases include tokenized real-world assets, institutional settlement, stablecoins and tokenized money, custody, asset and counterparty eligibility, governance approvals, banking controls, and governed AI-agent transactions.
The larger shift is:
Manual → AI-Native
Periodic → Continuous
Point-in-Time → Current Assurance
Audit Prep → Audit-Ready
Reports → Machine-Verifiable ProofI intentionally haven’t locked in the first set of requirements or regulations for the Canton implementation. I think that should be informed by the ecosystem: what would actually be most useful for Canton participants to see demonstrated first?
I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Do you see value in bringing this kind of infrastructure to Canton? Which use cases or requirements would be most valuable?
And if this sounds interesting and you’d like to learn more about the platform and the Development Fund proposal—and potentially consider becoming its Champion—I’d be happy to walk you through it.
Proposal:
Thank you,
