Summary
LongView Crew (LVC) is a community-facing Canton Network dApp that makes staking, delegation, and yield optimization accessible to everyday Canton Coin holders. It provides an educational Yield Maximizer tool, live network data visualization, validator comparison tables, portfolio simulation, and a community engagement layer — all built on a non-custodial, compliance-first architecture.
The project is already substantially built (~1,100 files across a full-stack React + Spring Boot + Daml codebase) and running against Canton Scan API endpoints. This proposal requests development fund support to complete production deployment, integrate live validator APIs, open-source the codebase as a Canton reference implementation, and grow the community of CC holders who actively participate in network staking.
LVC directly addresses a gap in the Canton ecosystem: there is currently no community-oriented tool that helps non-technical CC holders understand where, how, and why to stake or delegate their coins. By lowering this barrier, LVC aims to increase overall network participation and validator delegation diversity.
Requested Funding: 275,000 CC ($39,875 at $0.145/CC, milestone-based)
Timeline: 6 months (3 milestones)
Problem Statement
Canton Network has strong institutional infrastructure — super validators, the Amulet token standard, and a growing DeFi ecosystem. However, community-level tooling lags behind:
-
No yield education platform. CC holders must manually research validators, APYs, and commission structures across scattered sources. There is no unified interface that ranks opportunities by user preferences (risk tolerance, time horizon, balance size).
-
Validator comparison is opaque. Unlike Ethereum's beaconcha.in or Solana's validators.app, Canton lacks a community-accessible validator comparison tool with estimated APYs, uptime, and commission rates side-by-side.
-
No portfolio simulation. Users cannot model projected staking returns before committing capital. This discourages participation, especially from smaller holders who cannot afford trial-and-error.
-
Community engagement is fragmented. Canton's growing community lacks a unified hub for leaderboards, educational content, and social interaction tied to network participation.
-
Developer reference gap. New Canton developers lack a full-stack reference implementation showing how to integrate Canton wallet APIs, Canton Scan data, Daml smart contracts, and a modern React frontend in a single application.
Proposed Solution
LongView Crew addresses each problem with a production-ready feature:
Canton Yield Maximizer (Educational Tool)
- 6 ranked opportunities across staking and delegation categories (Kiln, Figment, Zenith, Synchronize, Cumberland/DRW, and educational/pro analysis tools)
- Personalized ranking engine scoring opportunities on 4 axes: APY (40 pts), risk alignment (30 pts), time horizon fit (15 pts), and balance fit (15 pts)
- 365-day compounding simulation with daily data points and interactive charts
- Yield Score widget calculating diversification, risk-adjusted returns, and active strategy metrics
- Smart AI explanations at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels for each opportunity, plus an FAQ system for custom questions
- Freemium model: Free tier (3 opportunities) and Pro tier ($19/mo or $149/yr) with full access and AI analysis
Live Canton Network Data Panel
- Real-time CC/USD price fetched from Canton Scan mining round data
- Validator comparison table with estimated APY, commission rates, uptime, and stake amounts for 5+ known super validators
- Mining round tracking with current round number and timestamps
- Scaffolding ready for live validator API endpoints when available
Canton Wallet Integration
- Non-custodial wallet connection via Party ID (localStorage + authenticated user detection)
- Real CC balance fetched from Amulet contract holdings via Party Query Service
- Balance-aware opportunity recommendations (minimum CC thresholds)
Community & Engagement Layer
- Leaderboard system with Daml-based on-chain scoring contracts
- Community hub for Canton ecosystem discussion
- Games suite (Predictions, Minesweeper, Roulette, Blackjack) for community engagement and retention
Compliance-First Architecture
- Non-custodial only — LVC never takes custody of user funds
- No financial advice — All content labeled "educational tool only"
- Manual execution only — Users execute all staking/delegation in their own wallet
- No reward distribution — No unlicensed incentive structures

Key Integrations
- Canton Scan API (
cantonScan.ts): Fetches live CC/USD price from mining round data, serves as data layer for validator comparison table. Ready for live validator endpoints.
- Canton Wallet API (
WalletController.java): Reads Amulet contract holdings via Party Query Service for real CC balance display.
- Daml Contracts (
daml/licensing/, daml/league/): On-chain license management and competitive scoring.
- OpenAPI Client Generation: Backend API contracts auto-generated from
openapi.yaml spec for type-safe frontend-backend communication.

Why This Matters for Canton
-
Lowers the barrier to staking participation. Most CC holders don't stake because the process is confusing. LVC makes it understandable with personalized recommendations, simulations, and step-by-step guides.
-
Increases validator delegation diversity. By making it easy to compare validators side-by-side, LVC encourages holders to distribute delegation across multiple validators rather than concentrating on one.
-
Serves as a reference implementation. The open-sourced codebase demonstrates a complete full-stack Canton dApp pattern that other developers can learn from and build upon — covering wallet integration, Scan API, Daml contracts, PQS, Docker deployment, and a modern React frontend.
-
Grows the Canton community. The gaming and social features create engagement loops that keep users returning, while the educational content converts passive holders into active network participants.
-
Demonstrates Canton's consumer potential. Most Canton applications target institutions. LVC shows that Canton can also power consumer-facing tools with great UX, helping attract a broader developer and user community.
Alignment with Fund Priorities
The Canton Protocol Development Fund supports: developer tooling, DeFi applications, critical infrastructure, and reference implementations. LVC aligns with multiple categories:
- Developer Tooling: Open-source reference implementation of a full-stack Canton dApp
- DeFi Application: Yield optimization and validator comparison for CC holders
- Reference Implementation: Complete pattern for React + Spring Boot + Daml + Canton Scan integration
- Community Infrastructure: First community-facing yield education platform on Canton
