Summary

This proposal delivers an open-source suite of DPM components for the post-deployment layer of the Canton developer workflow: inspecting live ledger state, submitting transactions, recording runs, estimating traffic costs, and running reproducible tests. Every command ships as a native dpm verb on a thin orchestration layer over the JSON Ledger API and PQS, with no new ledger functionality and no changes to Canton internals.

The suite is four components:

  • Ledger querying and submission: one-shot dpm query commands (ACS, contracts, updates, transactions, offsets) with --json output that pipes into shell tooling and CI, a terminal live tail of ledger updates, schema utilities, and dpm exercise for submission
  • External-party wallet: identity helpers plus allocate/sign/import flows wrapping Canton's external-signing topology sequence
  • Fee and reward estimation: pre-flight dpm estimate built on the interactive-submission prepare endpoint's cost estimation, converted to CC and USD via live Scan rates, with CIP-0104 app-reward projection and CI cost gates
  • Run journal and table-driven testing: a flight recorder that captures every suite-driven submission (including failed ones that never reached the ledger) with exact replay from any entry, plus dpm test --table with per-row reporting

This answers the Foundation's call for community-built DPM components, which named fee estimators, testing, debugging, and observability tooling as priority areas.
