Summary

The Edge Data Toolkit is open-source infrastructure that lets any Canton participant consume cryptographically verified real-world data — from IoT devices, industrial sensors, logistics systems, and on-device AI — through standard Daml workflows. It combines TEE-based on-device inference attestation (Furcate), TxPoW edge anchoring (Minima), and a Canton settlement bridge plus Daml package and SDKs (Tenzro), so that raw operational data never leaves the device while the derived, hardware-attested fact composes atomically with existing Canton workflows. This unlocks Canton participation for industrial and physical infrastructure operators across RWA collateral, parametric insurance, supply chain finance, and ESG use cases.

Notes for Reviewers

• Champion needed. We are submitting as an external consortium and do not yet have a Champion from the SIG directory. We would welcome an introduction to an appropriate Champion for the dapp-integration area.
• Funding: 3.06m CC total (≈ $500,000 USD equivalent at time of submission), across 4 milestones — 600k / 850k / 850k / 760k CC, each paid on committee acceptance.
• Duration exceeds 6 months. Aggregate milestone timeline is ~28-36 weeks, so the grant is denominated in fixed Canton Coin with a re-evaluation at the 6-month mark, per the template's volatility stipulation.
• All outputs are Apache 2.0. The Daml package, bridge service, SDK extensions, reference applications, and operator toolkit are all released open-source, with community handover in Milestone 4.
• Extends rather than replaces existing oracle patterns. The toolkit is compatible with existing Canton oracle patterns and VerifierConfig systems; it adds a hardware-attestation and provenance layer beneath them for physical/operational data, rather than substituting for financial oracle infrastructure. See the Rationale section for alternatives considered.
• Consortium: Tenzro (Canton integration, Daml tooling — active in the ecosystem since early 2025), Minima (production edge blockchain; partnerships including Siemens, ABB, Volvo), Furcate (deployed on-device AI inference and hardware attestation).
• An independent security audit is included as a Milestone 3 deliverable.
