Development Fund Proposal
Author: Meria
Status: Draft
Created: 2026-03-04
Abstract
This proposal aims to integrate the Canton ecosystem into Meria DeFi, an all-in-one decentralized yield and asset management platform designed to simplify access to on-chain financial opportunities.
Through this integration, Meria DeFi will enable users to connect Canton-compatible wallets and custody providers, monitor their Canton-based assets, and discover yield opportunities built within the ecosystem.
By acting as a distribution and aggregation layer, Meria DeFi will help increase visibility, accessibility, and usage of Canton ecosystem applications among retail DeFi users, institutional participants, and Meria’s existing user base.
Specification
1. Objective
The objective of this proposal is to make the Canton ecosystem more accessible to end users by integrating its applications and infrastructure into Meria DeFi, a unified platform designed to simplify on-chain asset management and yield discovery.
DeFi ecosystems often remain fragmented. Users must navigate multiple wallets, applications, dashboards, and interfaces to track their positions or access financial opportunities. This complexity limits adoption, particularly for users who are not deeply technical.
Meria DeFi addresses this fragmentation by providing a single interface where users can connect wallets, monitor their assets across multiple networks, and access yield opportunities directly from one platform.
Within the Canton ecosystem, this proposal focuses on three main objectives.
First, enabling users to connect Canton-compatible wallets and self-custody providers, allowing them to monitor their Canton-based assets and activity within the Meria DeFi dashboard.
Second, enabling users to discover financial opportunities developed within the Canton ecosystem, including vault-based strategies, lending markets, and other financial primitives developed by ecosystem participants.
Third, preparing the platform to integrate future Canton ecosystem applications as they emerge.
Rather than building new financial protocols internally, Meria DeFi will act as a distribution layer, simplifying access to Canton-based applications while helping increase ecosystem visibility and user adoption.
Leveraging Meria’s track record as a regulated platform with more than 150k users, as well as its exposure as a leading institutional staking provider working with major web3 institutions and more than 50k on-chain delegators, the platform is well positioned to drive meaningful distribution.
Meria’s expertise lies in translating complex technical infrastructure into accessible products for retail users, enabling broader adoption and traction for ecosystem applications.
2. Implementation Mechanics
The implementation will follow a modular integration approach built around three main layers.
Layer 1 — Wallet Connectivity and User Access
Users will be able to connect compatible self-custodial wallets directly to the Meria DeFi platform to interact with Canton-based applications.
The initial focus will be on widely adopted self-custodial solutions within the Canton ecosystem such as:
- CantonLoop Wallet
- Bron Wallet
- Cypherock
- Five North
- Zoro Wallet
- Ledger
Some of these wallets already support additional features such as swaps, payments, or upcoming staking integrations.
Through these integrations, users will be able to visualize their Canton-based portfolio positions, balances, and historical activity within a unified dashboard.
By aggregating different self-custody wallet solutions, Meria DeFi enables users to consolidate their holdings while maintaining full control of their assets.
Layer 2 — Integration of Canton Ecosystem Financial Products
Meria DeFi will surface opportunities such as:
- Yield vaults
- Swap infrastructure
- Bridging solutions
- Additional financial primitives
Execution will remain native to the Canton ecosystem.
For yield opportunities, Meria DeFi plans to integrate solutions such as BitSafe and its CBTC-based strategies.
For liquidity and asset mobility, the platform will surface swap infrastructure such as:
- Bron
- Houdini Swap
- Tradecraft
- Temple
Temple currently provides one of the primary bridging mechanisms within the ecosystem.
Layer 3 — Future Ecosystem Integrations
As new protocols emerge within the Canton ecosystem — including lending markets, vault strategies, or tokenized financial products — they can be integrated through Meria DeFi’s modular framework.
Supporting key infrastructure such as Bron or Cypherock simplifies future integrations with additional Canton dApps.
In this architecture, Meria DeFi acts as an aggregation and discovery layer, simplifying the user experience while maintaining direct interaction with Canton-native applications.
3. Architectural Alignment
This proposal aligns with Canton architecture by focusing on ecosystem integration and user accessibility rather than protocol modification.
Meria DeFi operates as a multi-chain interface that connects users to existing blockchain applications while preserving fully on-chain execution.
By integrating Canton ecosystem tools, wallets, and financial primitives, Meria DeFi contributes to:
- Improving accessibility of Canton ecosystem applications
- Enabling easier discovery of financial opportunities within the network
- Increasing user engagement with Canton-based products
This approach complements the Canton ecosystem by acting as a user-facing distribution channel, helping bridge infrastructure-level innovation with practical user adoption.
4. Backward Compatibility
No backward compatibility impact.
The integration is additive and does not modify existing workflows or protocol logic.

Motivation
This proposal increases the accessibility and visibility of the Canton ecosystem by connecting it with a broader audience through Meria DeFi.
Meria already operates blockchain infrastructure across more than 40 networks and serves a large user base composed of retail users, DeFi participants, and institutional actors exploring on-chain financial opportunities.
Over time, Meria has built a strong position within emerging ecosystems as an early validator and active network participant.
In addition to infrastructure operations, Meria also acts as a distribution layer through its regulated custodial platform, enabling users to buy, sell, and custody assets such as Canton within a compliant environment.
With the development of Meria DeFi, the platform is expanding toward DeFi integrations designed to bring additional user flows and simplify interaction with networks and their financial applications.
By integrating Canton ecosystem applications into Meria DeFi, the platform can help facilitate adoption, improve user discovery of ecosystem products, and contribute to increased on-chain activity.
Rationale
Rather than focusing solely on marketing incentives, this approach prioritizes:
- Yield and staking growth
- Validator participation
- Multi-chain exposure
- Measurable on-chain impact
By integrating Canton directly into a retail-accessible yield platform with institutional-grade standards, the proposal creates long-term network value rather than short-term activation spikes.
