Proposal: Commodity Reserve Infrastructure — Daml Contracts and Proof-of-Reserves for Physical Asset-Backed Tokens
Development Fund Proposal Submission
Proposal file: /proposals/commodity-reserve-infrastructure.md
Summary
Open-source Daml contracts and Proof-of-Reserves tooling for physically-backed commodity tokens on Canton. Delivers five modules: a CIP-56-compatible minimal token, multisig mint/burn controller using Daml's native multi-party agreement pattern, an Authorized Participant queue with atomic USDCx settlement, a multi-oracle NAV and collateralization module and a management interface.
Canton has treasuries (DTCC), deposit tokens (JPM Coin), and money market funds — but no standardized infrastructure for physical commodity assets. This proposal fills that gap with reusable, open-source tooling (Apache 2.0) that any project can fork for gold tokens, agricultural commodities, or other custodied physical assets.
ARU (Acua Reserve Unit) — a 100% physically-backed commodity reserve token, Swiss/Singapore custody, and oracle feeds — serves as the live reference deployment.
