Regulating crypto and digital assets remains a problem for industry participants, regulators and policymakers alike, partly because of the decentralised nature of public blockchain technology but also because of the use of cryptocurrencies in criminal activity. Crypto may have seen a lot of bad actors but are its problems unique to this industry?

Are crypto’s problems any different to the troubles the financial sector has seen before?

Regulation now exists in many countries. How is the industry adapting to these new regulations? Where does the regulatory confusion still exist? Where are the gaps in current frameworks?

The IMF, WEF and other global standard setters have highlighted the need for a unified approach to regulation. How realistic is this in the long term? How can the industry - across TradFi and crypto - make progress together within the existing regulatory guardrails?
