Development Fund Proposal Submission

Proposal file: rfps/financial-markets-standards-verification/2026-09-Vasyliev-canton-venues-market-data.md

Scope revised on 2026-10-10 from "Canton Algorithmic Trading Toolkit" to what is already in use: the independent execution benchmark, with the venue connector as Milestone 1; the execution layer (liquidity bots, trade-execution MCP) is withdrawn to a later proposal. The revision notes are in the thread. This PR supersedes #636.

Summary

Each Canton venue reports its own numbers in its own format, and nothing public compares what the same trade actually returns on each. Canton Venues (cantonvenues.com, live since 2 October 2026) does: it reads seven venues every five minutes and ranks them on the same trade at $100, $1K, $10K and $50K after pool fees, price impact and each venue's network fee, tracks Canton prices against outside markets, and publishes it all as a key-free JSON API, an MCP server and a page per venue. Cantex and Tradecraft have each published their own ranking from it, and Cantex endorsed this application on this PR. The grant makes the benchmark a maintained public asset: a venue schema so any venue can be ranked on the same method, the hourly execution history as an open dataset, an installable MCP package and twelve months of maintenance, with half of the request paid only per verified independent adopter.

Why the Ecosystem Needs It

Who benefits. Traders and venues get a ranking computed the same way for everyone, which two of seven venues used in the first week. Wallets, aggregators, routers, treasuries and agent products get one neutral answer to "which venue gives the most back at my size" instead of integrating each venue; a venue named exactly those consumers in its comment on this PR. The Foundation and the market get public, reproducible aggregates of execution quality and price against outside markets on Canton, computed only from the venues' public APIs.

How it drives adoption, and how that is enforced. 600,000 CC, half the request, is payable only against verified independent adopters: a venue whose own team integrated itself through the published specification, or an independent application reading the API, SDK or MCP server in production for at least thirty days, up to four, each verified by a public report script. If nobody outside the author integrates, half the request is never paid.
